February 12, 2025 - the world is a little dimmer today upon the passing of Margie Sue Latimer. Born on October 2, 1943 in Lubbock, TX, one in a long line of strong women who fiercely loved God and family.
Raised alongside her brothers by her mother and Neenie, she learned to craft, sew, and cook from an early age, skills she carried through her whole life.
After graduating from Monterey High School, her first job as a telephone operator brought her much joy and many friends. She never shied from hard work, taking on jobs as needed to help her family, but her chosen career was Mom. Her four girls were the focus of her world. She used her sewing talent to create unique costumes, formals, and Amy's beautiful wedding dress. A wonderful cook, she made delicious dinners and baked and decorated many birthday cakes throughout the years. She was involved in all of her girls' activities, from PTA and school events to band and Latin club. Mama Sue was there for every victory and every struggle, often extending her parental care to her daughters' friends. She taught her children to care for others and to love the Lord.
Sue was a friend to all. She never met a stranger, many times striking up long conversations while in line at the grocery store.
She was generous to a fault, sharing her handmade crafts and delicious food with friends and neighbors. She gave of her talents, time, and heart.
Margie Sue is preceded in death by her beloved grandmother Nancy "Neenie" Rose, her precious mama Johnia Hudnall, and her sweet baby brother Larry Hudnall. In her final days, she was surrounded by the love of those she leaves behind - her big brother Robert Hudnall, her daughters Heather Hammock, Amy Ahrens and husband Kevin, Holly Latimer, and Kaela Latimer, and her three grandchildren, Nancy, Dade, and Peyton Hammock.
