Marcia Dell Dunn Brinson was born on April 25, 1938, in Terry County, TX. Her parents were Homer Howell Dunn and Ruth Jackson. She also had a stepmother Winnie Ross Marcia grew up on a dry land farm. They farmed mostly cotton, had some cows, pigs, and chickens. She chose cooking for everyone as opposed to picking cotton. Very hard work.
Marcia had 5 brothers and sisters: Charles Wesley (Born 1925), Mary Ruth (Born 1927), Juanita Faye known as Tinkie (Born 1931), Billie Yvonne (1936), and Bobby Ray (Born 1943).
Marcia was a member of the Pool Community 4-H Club. She began sewing her own dresses when she was 13. When she was 18, she won 1st place in the local MAID OF COTTON contest (out of 22 young ladies). She wore the dress she had made herself. Marcia loved singing and being in choir. She started to play piano when she was 12 years old. She played for her eighth-grade graduation and began to play for church services when she was 13 years old. She played piano for church all her life. It was a great joy to her.
Marcia and her future husband (Walter Brinson) were born about 20 miles apart from each other. Their birthdays were one day apart with Marcia (April 25th) being born only a few hours before Walter on April 26th. They actually met at a watermelon birthday party thrown for them by other people. They married in 1956.
Marcia had the gift of hospitality and loved hosting her friends and family. Her door was always open and everyone was offered a cup of coffee or something to eat.
Marcia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter E. Brinson; and her siblings.
She is survived by her children, Shellie Garcia and husband Michael, and Rodney Brinson and wife Karen; grandchildren, Paul Turman and wife Heather, Gabriel Gunnels, Jonathan Brinson and wife Caitlin, and Kathryn Brinson; and great-grandchildren, Hadley Turman, Aspen Turman, Draigen Turman, Zayne Brinson, and Asher Brinson.
