Malcolm "Benny" Benefield, Jr. – October 12, 2012

Malcolm “Benny” Benefield, Jr., 89, of Amarillo died on Friday, October 12, 2012.
Services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, October 15, 2012 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Dr. Stan Cosby, Reverend Scott Richards and Reverend Josh Kouri, officiating.  Burial will be at Llano Cemetery.  Military Rites are by U.S. Marine Corps.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Benefield was born on September 2, 1923 in Gorman, Texas to Malcolm and Gay Benefield.  He served in the United States Marine Corps and married Peggy Marie Woosley on July 6, 1946 in Brady, Texas.  Mr. Benefield was a member and certified lay speaker at Trinity United Methodist Church. He was past president for District United Methodist Men and for Trinity United Methodist Men. He worked as a sales manager in the automobile industry.
He was preceded in death by a son, Brad Benefield in 1977, and two daughters, Susy Benefield in 1976 and Cindy Barber in 1993.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Benefield of the home; his children, Jeff Benefield and wife Priscilla of Fort Worth, Mike Benefield and wife Janie of Dallas, Sally Benefield of Amarillo and Ben Benefield and wife Vilma of Ingleside; a son-in-law, Larry Barber of Dallas; a brother, Jack Benefield of Abilene; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 3402 South Jackson Street, Amarillo, TX 79109.
