Lynn Wall

Lynn Wall, 95, died Sunday, July 24, 2022, in Mansfield, Texas.

Graveside services will be at 11 am Saturday, August 13, 2022, in Llano Cemetery.  Dr. Murray Gossett of First Presbyterian Church will officiate.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount.

Mary Lynn Williams was born August 24, 1926, to Gladys and Malcolm Williams in Memphis Texas.  She grew up in Houston and New Braunfels, Texas.

Lynn attended the University of Texas in Austin, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority.  While at the University she met Irvin Wall, of Amarillo, who had returned to college after serving with the United States Army in World War II as a member of the Tenth Mountain Division in Italy.  They both graduated from the University of Texas: Lynn with a degree in education, and Irvin with a degree in business.  They were married in 1948 in New Braunfels.

Though Irvin also graduated from the Southern Methodist University School of Law, both Lynn and Irvin remained lifelong loyal Longhorns and enjoyed having season tickets to the UT football games.

In 1951, they moved to Amarillo.  Lynn’s great loves were her husband and their two daughters. She enjoyed her life as a stay-at-home mother and took great pleasure in caring for Irvin and the girls and supporting them in their endeavors.  She also enjoyed her years as a member of the Junior League and creating beautiful needlepoint in her spare time.

She and Irvin were faithful members of First Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years.

Following Irvin’s death in 2013, Lynn moved to Mansfield, Texas to be closer to her daughters.  True to her gracious nature, she adapted to her new life and made many new friends.  The family would like to thank the staff in the Watercrest Assisted Living for their loving care for Lynn.

Lynn was predeceased by her parents, her husband and her brother Gerald Williams of New Braunfels.  She is survived by her daughter Nancy Banks and son-in-law Chuck, her daughter Sharon Wettengel and son-in-law Wes, grandsons Ethan Wettengel and wife Kelly, Eric Wettengel, and Brian Banks and wife Ashleigh, great-granddaughters Aubrey Wettengel and Bailey Banks and her sister Janelle Berger of New Braunfels.

The family suggests memorials be to the Amarillo Children’s Home at 3400 S. Bowie, Amarillo, TX 79109 or the College of Education at the University of Texas, mailing address College of Education, the University of Texas at Austin, Mail Stop D5000, Austin, TX78712-0287.  Please make checks payable to the University of Texas at Austin and indicate in the memo the gift is designated for the College of Education.
