Memorial services will be held at Southwest Church of Christ on Monday, March 4, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., with Bret McCasland officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Lucy was born on December 2, 1949, in Lubbock, Texas to Paul and Vera Stanford. She moved to Amarillo in the 6th grade and graduated from Tascosa High School in 1968.
In 1972, she gave birth to her one and only child, Christina. Lucy loved her friends, family, and animals completely.
After working for the Wagner Brothers for many years, Lucy decided to take on the role of becoming a dog groomer. Her customers and their owners were the highlight of her days. Lucy always said her customers were her second family and she remained in contact with them throughout the years.
She loved spending time with family, and she was always giving and trying to help others, especially during the holidays. Lucy was known for spending her afternoons outside in her yard working in her flower beds, feeding the birds, and enjoying the squirrels.
She is preceded in death by her father, Paul Stanford, her mother, Vera Markart, and her sister, Patricia Horne.
She is survived by her daughter, Christina Bennett of Dalhart and her husband John, her granddaughter Kaylee Harvey of Dalhart, and a great-granddaughter Vera Ballew, her nieces Jayme Bandy and husband Chris, Joann Florez and husband David, Sherry Flores and husband Chris, Heather White, and husband Derrick, many great and great-great nieces and nephews that she loved to spend time with.
