Lounette “Lucy” Carter, 79, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013 in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Bev Gambrel officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Lounette was born in Ballinger on July 12, 1933. Lounette graduated from Happy High School. She married Fred Carter on July 25, 1950; they were married 62 years. Lounette was a member of Hillside Christian Church, and had been a member of the Republican Women’s Association. She volunteered with CPS and had been involved in the Head Start Mentoring Program.
Lounette loved to make people laugh with her jokes and quick wit. She always had a smile on her face and had a way of making all her grandkids truly think they were her favorite. Lounette was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her parent, Fender and Louise Stubblefield; a brother, Duane Stubblefield; and a sister, Marlene Caraway.
Survivors include her husband, Fred Carter; two children, Deanna Sanford and Rick Carter; four grandchildren, Casey Coin, Jill Lacey, Monica Weatherly and Derrick Carter; and six great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to CPS, 3521 Southwest 15th Avenue Amarillo, TX 79102; or to Hospice Care of the Southwest, 6600 Killgore Drive #110, Amarillo, TX 79106
The family will receive friends from 7:00–8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at the funeral home.
