Louise was born March 4, 1922 to Albert and Mollie Montgomery, in Plymouth, Texas. At 9 years old, Louise’s Mother passed away, and she was propelled into homemaking and farmer’s helper, at a very young age. Louise graduated from Samnorwood High School in 1939, and married Henry Rogers, 12/23/1942. They left immediately for California, where they lived for three years, and their first child, Sandra was born. They endured the black outs and other terrifying events that occurred on the West coast during WW II. In 1945 they returned to Texas, moving to Wellington in 1945, where Eddie and Lillie Ann were born.
Louise was a homemaker and Henry’s helper until all the children were in school. She then began working various retail positions in Wellington for a span of 46 years. Louise was a devout Christian and her life was characterized by loving service. She gave home care to dozens of people in their declining days. She ministered to all with her delicious pies. She was an active volunteer at the museum, nursing home, and delivering meals on wheels, for over 25 years. Her kind and gentle spirit will be missed by all.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Rogers, two sisters, Jeanette Hoffman and Maxine (Dinky) Bodine, and a grandaughter, Erin Louise Rogers Almanza. Survivors include her children, Sandra Wheeler and Husband Buford; Eddie Rogers and wife Karen; Lillie Rogers, all of Amarillo TX; 3 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren, and a many friends.
