Lois Patricia Sims

Lois Patricia Sims, 89, of Amarillo, TX passed away in the private home of her son under hospice care on March 6, 2024.

Memorial service will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors. A visitation for family and friends will be in the home of her son, Steve Sims at 6305 Parkwood Place on Friday, March 15 from 5:00-8:00 PM.

Lois was born May 21, 1934, in Amarillo, TX to Howard Dieffindorf Thompson and Ruth Button Thompson. She graduated from Amarillo High in 1952.

Lois married Sammie A. Sims in Clovis, NM on March 2, 1954. Lois did various secretarial jobs but, mostly was a stay at home wife and mom. Lois and Sammie enjoyed square dancing together and were members of various local clubs. One of their favorite things to do was making lunch for their grandsons and school friends. The boys would swing by for a quick lunch at the house so they could pocket their lunch money for the day. She really enjoyed all the boys being in her home.

Lois was a past member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church and enjoyed her visits with Roy Wheeler from time to time.

Lois is predeceased by her parents; her husband of 58 years, Sammie Sims; and her twin brother, Lloyd Thompson.

Survivors include her son, Steve Sims and wife Joanie, of Amarillo; grandchildren, Shane Sims, and Dexter Sims and wife Quinn; step-grandchildren, Megan Beasley and husband Ryan, and Levi Speer and wife Jori; her sister, Margie Reinhold of California; 8 great-grandchildren, Blakeley, Wilder, Walker, and Lumi Sims; Charlee and Paxton Beasley, and Bromley and Anniston Speer; and many beloved in-laws, nieces, nephew and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital; Sister Bear Foundation; or any other favorite charity of your choosing.
