Loagan Wade Helton

Loagan Wade Helton, 33 years old, of Pampa, TX passed away on January 8, 2024.

The family will recieve friends from 4:30-6:30 PM, Friday, January 12, 2024 at Boxwell Brothers, 2800 Paramount. Services will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Hillside Christian Church at 6100 Soncy Rd. Amarillo, TX 79119. Burial will be at the White Rose Cemetery in Reydon, OK at 3:00 pm. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Loagan was born in Pampa, TX, on June 23, 1990, to Jenny Lee Shockey Helton, mother and Albert Wade Helton, father.

Loagan grew up in Amarillo, TX and Pampa, TX. He attended Sleepy Hollow Elementary School, Bushland Middle School before graduating high school from the Heritage Academy in year 2009. Loagan was active in Junior rodeo growing up and competed in High School rodeo in bull riding, tie down roping and team roping. Loagan received over 25 different scholarship offers to compete in rodeo and in music eventually accepting a full scholarship to Vernon Jr College to compete in bull riding and tie down roping. While competing in college rodeo, Loagan won the first round of the bull riding in the College Olympics in Springfield, Illinois representing the State of Texas and the United States against several countries including Australia and Canada Loagan later attended Frank Phillips College where he earned a degree in agricultural business. Loagan continued to compete in rodeo after college in tie down and team roping. Loagan’s accolades and winnings in rodeo are too vast to mention.

Loagan was a talented musician and song writer. Loagan played fiddle, guitar and was an extraordinary mandolin player as well as an inspiring singer. Loagan and Lane Hedeman formed the duo group of H2L where Loagan was lead singer. He wrote several of the songs. In 2010, H2L released their debut album “H2L” to great success. H2L performed in venues such as Billy Bobs in Ft Worth, TX, South Point Casino in Las Vegas, Larry Joe Taylors Music Festival, Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic among others.

Loagan started a bucking bull company raising bulls for rodeo competition. Loagan was an intricate part of the successful training team of American quarter horse racing seasoning with super star horse Llano Cartel. In 2013, they won Remington Park and in 2014, Florida Hialeah Park. Loagan and his father Wade won the American Quarter Horse Nation with Llano Cartel in 2013.

Loagan was a very outdoors person who enjoyed skiing, golfing, riding horses, fishing and boating. Loagan also was very skilled in martial arts earning a black belt in Taekwondo. Loagan enjoyed spending time with family and always had a number of fun and interesting projects to keep busy and share with family and friends.

Loagan was preceded in death by his Grandfather, Jimmy Lee Shockey, Aunt, Carla Ann Shockey Pursley and step-mother Tammy Sasser Helton. Loagan is survived by his father Albert Wade Helton, mother Jenny Lee Shockey Helton Gillispie, son Reddan Wade Helton, brothers Gage Gillispie, Grant Gillispie, Lane Hall. Grandparents Pat and Alberta Helton and Harold and Pat Dickason. Also, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
