Livrada “Livi” Gallegos Tenorio, of Amarillo went to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 6, 2018, at the tender age of 96. She passed in Denver, Colorado, while visiting her family.
Rosary will be at 6:00 PM, Friday May 11th, 2018 at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd, Amarillo, TX 79109. Mass will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday May 12, 2018, in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, with Pastor, Jose Gomez officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.
Mrs. Tenorio was born in Michoacan, Mexico on May 12, 1921 and became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1957. She is a long-time resident of Amarillo, where she and her husband, Lorenzo M. Tenorio owned and operated Lawrence Shoe Shop, where they created custom Cowboy boots.
She was a homemaker and loved designing and creating beautiful quilts. Her favorite sports to watch were football and baseball and was a Dallas Cowboy and Texas Ranger fan. She also loved her two small parrots “Pretty Baby” and “Panchito”. She loved listening to music and dancing, in particular to Mariachi music.
She was the matriarch of the Gallegos and Quintero families, adored by all and will be deeply missed. In the recent past, some lovingly referred to her as “La Reina del Barrio”.
She was a near-lifetime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and was a student at the OLG Parrish school. She was one of the original Guadalupanas members.
For fun….she loved to dance and to play La Loteria with her family and to go play “Las Maquinitas”.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lorenzo M. Tenorio; her son, Valente Tenorio; her grandson, Joel C. Ornelas and sister, Marci de Los Reyes.
Survivors include daughter, Juanita “Sanjui” Ornelas and her husband, Ismael; daughter, Geneva “Pinnie” Tenorio and her daughter-in-law, Ruth Ann Tenorio. Surviving siblings are Jesse and Betty Gallegos; Ricky Gallegos; Avelia Alcala; Catalina and Johnny Burrola; and Greg and Terry Guzman. She is survived by 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and many, many cousins, nephews and nieces.
