If you knew Lisa at all you knew that to put it mildly she saw the world through very special eyes. Nothing was strange to her, nothing out of the ordinary, nothing foreign. She welcomed everything and everyone, every thought and every word, every idea and every image with a warmth, a fascination and an instant acceptance that none of us will ever equal.
Born Lisa Marie Herbert on July 12, 1973, she became during her all too brief 49 years a beloved daughter, a mom, a grandmother, an aunt, a friend and a joy to her family, her friends her coworkers and anyone else she ever met or knew.
She could make you laugh with her funny faces and her quirky humor. She made the best out of every situation no matter how dire, how emotional or how uncomfortable. She could puzzle you, she could sometimes drive you crazy but at the end of day she loved you and you loved her.
Lisa was a painter, a sketcher, a writer, a poet, a joy and a delight. She could build the most amazing tents. No child was left unloved or left aside. She was the biggest kid of them all but at the core of her being was her love for her family.
In addition to tents, she built and maintained lifelong relationships with distant family members, former coworkers and so many friends that we can’t possibly list you all in this writing. We don’t need a list. You know who you are. Lisa would not have kept a list anyway. She knew you in her heart, and that was enough.
Lisa’s love would shine in a way you wouldn’t see if you weren’t looking. But you couldn’t help but to see all the love, all the things she did, and all the kindness she made just because she wanted to help.
Life was not very kind to Lisa. She fought long and protracted battles with her spine, her stomach, her kidneys and her emotions. Chronic pain and illness often forced her to take very powerful medications for long periods of time. The most recent batch – needed to allow her to eat and digest food – eventually impaired her kidney function. That and a kidney stone led to a sepsis that brought her life to end on January 26 at 7:29 PM
She is survived by her mom and stepdad, her three sons, her two brothers, her sister, three grandchildren and dozens of cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Our beloved Angel is in heaven. We miss her, we grieve for our lost loved one. There is a hole in our hearts and in our homes that will never be completely repaired. But know for an absolute certainty that Heaven is a brighter place for her being there and that our Dear Lord has already had a smile or two at her prompting.
We love you sweet Angel. Soar to Heaven on your Dear Lord’s Wings.
