Lela Irene “Maggie” Callaway Caldwell, 95 of Amarillo died Monday, April 9, 2012.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2012 in Llano Cemetery with Jim Shelburne, pastor, Washington Avenue Christian Church officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Born July 31, 1916, in Ochiltree County, Perryton, TX, she attended school in Perryton and Canadian. She married Wallace H. “Jiggs” Caldwell November 6, 1937. Mrs. Caldwell was a homemaker and volunteered at the VA Hospital for 30+ years.
Maggie loved her flowers, hanging baskets and working in the yard. A charter member of Washington Avenue Christian Church, she loved her church family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; CW “Charlie” and Alice Callaway, husband “Jiggs”, a son Terry Lynn , brothers Burl, Cleo “Cert” and Thad Callaway.
Survivors include a son, Ronnie and wife Jodi Caldwell, grandchildren; Chris Caldwell and wife Marla, Amber Ledesma and husband Robert, and Brooke Hillard and husband Brandon; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-granddaughters, Callaway brothers; CW “Dub”, Max and wife Lee and Dallas and wife Willie; and host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be to Washington Avenue Christian Church 3800 Washington, Amarillo, TX 79110.
