Larry S. Arnett, 71 of Los Alamos, New Mexico has passed away.  Larry’s death was unexpected yet quick as he took his final breath in the early morning hours of January 5th, 2019.

Larry was born on January 10, 1947 to Ealon Yvonne and Arthur Stanley Arnett in Alva, Oklahoma. Larry Spent the larger parts of his life in Clayton, NM, Alva, OK and Los Alamos, NM. Larry had an incredible passion for fishing and being out on his boat. On the water among the trees and quiet where he could reflect on his life and spend some quiet time talking to the Lord was where he always wanted to be! Larry loved everything about the great outdoors, at any given time if he wasn’t on a trip to the lake or working in his yard you could simply find him on his back deck at home enjoying the fresh air and an ice cold beer enjoying the beautiful mountain scenery that he happily called home.  Larry was known for being a good friend and an easy person to talk to, he was always quick to listen and slow to speak, always full of great advice and was always willing to help anyone in need, he will definitely be remembered for his very generous heart!  Larry enjoyed a lot of things in life and spent much time working towards a bigger and better future which included continuing education and college but will be most remembered for his job of appx 20 years at Los Alamos National Laboratory where he worked for the United States Government which was a position he was very proud to uphold for those years.

Before Larry passed he had said many of times how fulfilled his life had been, telling many exciting stories of his youth where we are certain his mother never had a moment of rest as she worried about what he would get in to next.

Though he had much excitement and many accomplishments,  his greatest accomplishment in life was definitely his role as Grandfather to his grand children that he loved so very much and was so very proud of, he will always love you and watch over you Dilynn, Landen, Rileigh, Ashley, Shaylin, Kaylee, Travis, Jordan, Lily, Abigail, Isabella, Adison, Micah and Kale.  Larry was survived by his mother Ealon Yvonne Arnett, brothers John Arnett and Alfie Arnett, son Joshua Arnett and wife Trista Arnett, daughters Jessica Thomas and husband JW Thomas, Jamie Tamez and husband Lupe Tamez and RaDonna Steele.

Larry was preceded in death by his father Arthur Stanley Arnett and sister Becky Arnett Herring.

Larry let it be known many times that he would want to be remembered by his life and not by his death so by his request there will be no funeral arrangements made and his ashes will be spread among the great outdoors in places that held significant meaning in his life.  We rejoice and find comfort in knowing that this is not goodbye,  but see you later.   Daily we will celebrate your life and the wonderful memories that we have.  We will love you forever and miss you, until then…

  1. My condolences to the family of Larry. He worked in my building for many years until he he retired from LANL. He was one of the first faces I would see when I came in each morning with a “Hello Darlin” waiting for me. He was a very cheerful person and so much more and full of life. May he rest in peace and bring joy to all that knew him from up above.
