Laquita attended Oklahoma State University for a year, where she was proud to be a Cowboy, but became a life-long Texas Longhorn fan after meeting her beloved husband, James Edward Evans. They married on July 18, 1964 in Ponca City, OK and together they owned and operated Gordon’s Drug Store in Spearman, TX for 40 years. Together they ensured the store thrived for decades, becoming a beloved pillar of the community. Laquita had a deep love for the mountains, where she and James spent 25 years creating memories in their cabin, surrounded by friends and family. She cherished the joy of snowmobiling, sipping a glass of chardonnay, and creating precious memories that will be treasured for generations. Laquita also had a special love for Las Vegas, where she could be found rolling dice at the craps tables with James and laughing with friends. She also learned to play chess to participate alongside James in tournaments. A self-proclaimed genealogist, Laquita spent countless hours creating beautiful scrapbooks that preserve the rich history of both the Evans and Shuss families. Her work holds precious memories and serves as a treasured legacy for her children and grandchildren.
