Ky David Stevens, beloved husband, son, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on January 26, 2025, at the age of 35. He was born on February 3, 1989, to Gail and Buddy Stevens in Amarillo, TX.
Ky was a proud graduate of Amarillo High School, Class of 2007. After high school, he pursued a career in healthcare as a phlebotomist while attending Texas State University. He graduated with a bachelor’s in English literature in 2011 and went on to earn a Master’s in Technical Writing in 2013. This degree opened the door to a fulfilling career and many opportunities for travel and adventure, which Ky embraced wholeheartedly. He lived in various cities, including Germany, Santa Cruz, California, and Denver, Colorado, cherishing each new experience.
Ky had a deep love for animals, and his compassionate nature led him to rescue many pets throughout his life. His beloved black Labrador, Dexter, and cat, Ron, were his constant companions on his journeys. He is survived by his rescue dog, Dexter, and his new rescue cat, Sophie. Ky’s love for the outdoors was equally strong, with a passion for hiking in Pagosa Springs, skiing at Wolf Creek, and swimming in the Pacific Ocean. His adventurous spirit and appreciation for the beauty of nature left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Ky returned to Amarillo in 2021, where he reconnected with family and friends. In September 2024, he married the love of his life, Landon Watson, in a beautiful ceremony on September 11th. They wanted to make sure they would never forget that day.
Ky is survived by his devoted husband, Landon Watson; his mother, Gail Davis, and stepfather, Tommy Davis; his siblings, Kristi Reyna, Kelly Taylor, Kim Wiles, Holly Davis Diesner, Thomas Davis, and Tim Davis. He was preceded in death by his father, Buddy Stevens and his sister, Shelby Stevens.
A service to celebrate Ky’s life will be held on Sunday, February 2nd at 2 p.m. at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel located at 2800 Paramount Blvd. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for a love offering of gift cards to assist Landon and their pets during this time of loss.
