In Loving Memory of Kris Dee Ritz
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Kris Dee Ritz who left this world peacefully and surrounded by her children on April 21, 2024. She was 59 years young.
Kris Ritz, of Amarillo, was born in Spokane, Washington to John and Beverly O’Connell. She grew up with a zest for adventure and deep appreciation for family. Kris Ritz was not only a remarkable woman but also a fierce warrior who faced life’s challenges with unwavering strength and courage. Kris was an extraordinary woman whose life was filled with love, laughter, and purpose.
Kris dedicated 21 years to her career as a Correctional Officer at TDCJ Clements. Kris was an avid lake-goer, motorcycle enthusiast, and most of all beloved Gamma. Kris, through her infectious positivity and bright smile, touched the lives of many.
Kris Ritz was a devoted mother, sister, daughter, and grandmother. She leaves behind her loving children: Josh Milward and fiancée Brittney Vaughn, Ashley Milward and fiancé Ruben Ramirez, Justin Milward and wife Sarah, and Nicole Milward and fiancé Jeff Hunt.
She also cherished her role as a “Gamma” to Andrew, Brynlee, Kolten, Abel, Ariana, Arlene, Bailee, and Kaylee. Equally as important to her was her role as sister to brother, Tom O’Connell; and sisters, Kathy Holmes and husband John, and Kim Harrop.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Kris Dee Ritz at a memorial service to be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Kris Dee Ritz will forever be remembered for her kindness, resilience, strength and unwavering love. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched and the memories we hold dear.
