Kenda Faulkner – July 28, 2017

Kenda Faulkner, 82, passed away July 28 with family by her side.
She was born to the late Kenneth and Wanda Chapman, Oct. 15, 1934 in Amarillo. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1952 and received a BS from then West Texas State University in 1966. She married Max Ray Faulkner on Aug. 22, 1953.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, at Polk St. United Methodist Church with Dr. Burt Palmer and Rev. Kevin Deckard officiating.
Kenda taught elementary school for many years in Groom and Miami, Texas. She finished her teaching career at St. Mary’s Cathedral School. Her classroom there was the same classroom she was in as a first grader.
Kenda was an excellent pianist and organist. She was the Methodist Church organist in Groom and Miami. She loved the game of tennis. When she was no longer able to play, she enjoyed hours of tennis on television. She was involved in many activities with the church including Life TwoGether Sunday School Class, Living the Questions and Koffee Klatch.
She is survived by her husband Max Ray and sons Dr. David Faulkner and wife Sarah of Amarillo; Darrell Faulkner and wife Jan of Spring; grandchildren Amanda Martin and Rachel Gottschalk of Houston, Travis Faulkner of Spring and James of Amarillo; great-grandchildren Aubrey and Caroline Martin, Henry and Evelyn Gottschalk; sister Cathy Kincaid Dawson of Round Rock; sister-in-law Elaine Brownell and husband Dr. Bob Brownell of Muskogee, OK; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to a favorite charity.
