Kayla Kirkland

Kayla Rae Kirkland, 26, of Amarillo, TX passed away December 29, 2023.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Hillside Christian Church, 6100 S. Soncy in Amarillo, TX. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo.

Kayla was born March 30, 1997, in Amarillo, TX, to Jeff Kirkland and Jodie Houle. Kayla attended school in Canyon and Amarillo and graduated from Tascosa High School in 2015. She loved playing volleyball throughout her school years and after she graduated. She made many friends throughout her life. Kayla was a loving and caring soul who always made time to help other people and animals in need. Kayla met her partner Harley Scroggins, towards the end of her senior year of high school. They welcomed their first daughter, Talya, on August 12, 2016, and their second daughter, Lilah, on October 12, 2022. Kayla loved spending time with her girls, family, and friends. She will be deeply missed by all of those who knew her.

Kayla was preceded in death by her beloved Nana, Helen Thompson.

Kayla is survived by her daughters, Talya and Lilah Scroggins; parents, Jeff Kirkland, and Jodie and John Houle; brother, Sebastian Connell; grandparents, Harold and Pat Connell, Bob and Lorrena Kirkland, Ralph Thompson, and Iris Winters; great-grandmother, Vernas Moore; aunts and uncles, Lori Williams, Shawn and Kathy Connell, Jason Connell, Zach and Jolynn Connell; along with many cousins, great aunts and uncles, and countless close friends whom she considered family.
