Katherine Mary Baldwin, 75, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on December 6, 2024.
Katherine was born July 4, 1949 in Dallas, Texas to Nicholas “Red” Hartwell Baldwin, Jr. and Alice Doris Thompson. She grew up in Tulia, Texas. She was a basketball player at Tulia High School.
Katherine loved accounting from an early age, sitting at her father’s side, working the adding machine.
She was a graduate of Texas Tech University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. She became a CPA in 1973, practicing for 50 years.
Katherine enjoyed being a successful single mother to her daughter, Sarah.
She was a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, Beta Gamma Sigma, and Phi Kappa Phi. She was a devoted member of Soroptimist International of the Amarillo Club for 30 years, acting as club treasurer for almost 20 years. She was committed to the Soroptimist Mission of empowering women and girls through access to education. She was also a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Amarillo.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas “Red” Hartwell Baldwin, Jr. and Alice Doris (Thompson) Baldwin and her brother, Donald Hartwell.
Katherine is survived by her daughter, Sarah (Matthew) and cousins, Patti Crane (Bill) and Nancy Tyler (Jack).
Services will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, December 10, 2024 in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Dr. G. A. Roach officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Tulia, Texas. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Viewing will be on Monday, December 9, 2024 from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm.
