Justin was born on April 21, 1980, to Tim and Vickie Merrill in Anderson, Indiana. Justin graduated from Amarillo High School in 1998. He was a successful, self-employed transportation broker.
He is survived by his parents, Tim & Vickie Merrill; sister, Jennifer Merrill Vinyard; daughter, Ava Merrill of San Antonio, TX; son, Gavin Merrill of San Antonio, TX; mother of his children, Melissa Merrill of San Antonio, TX; nephew, Philip Vinyard III; nieces, Ashlyn Vinyard and Sydney Vinyard; grandparents, James & Reba Bailey; aunts, Valarie Olson of Amarillo, TX and Patti Merrill of Indianapolis, IN; uncles, Joel Olson or Amarillo TX, and Robert Merrill of Indianapolis, IN; girlfriend, Jennifer Boyer; his dogs, Zepp & Zada; and several cousins.
Justin loved anything outdoors. He could often be found sitting on his front porch, enjoying the weather, and playing with his two pups. He loved to go out to “The Ranch” to hunt and fish with his family and all of his buddies. He also held a tremendous passion and talent for art. He was able to draw, paint, or make just about anything- People, animals, objects, and abstracts. He used a plethora of utensils including pencils, sharpies, chalk markers, paint, and he could even whittle wood. His taste in music was very diverse. Some of his favorites include Eminem, Jack Johnson, Bob Marley, Zac Brown Band, Mumford and Sons, and more.
Justin had an enormous heart, and that was apparent in the immense way he loved his friends and family. He had a compassion for helping others as he would often gather clothes and buy food to donate to those in need. You could always count on Justin to be quick with a sarcastic comment or witty comeback to a joke. He was definitely ornery at all times, but everyone silently loved that about him. He had an embracing hug, and contagious laugh. One of his favorite things was spending time with his two children, Ava and Gavin. He gave the best back tickles, loved taking them to “The Ranch”, teasing them, talking about their highs and lows at dinner, and even dressing Ava for church in questionable attire. More than anything he was a free spirit, who loved to live his life.
