Judith Katherine Assini

Judith Katherine Assini, 80, of Tucumcari, NM, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. 

Judy was born on March 6, 1944, in Tucumcari, to Kelly and Lenora Byron. She graduated from Las Cruces High School in 1962 and dedicated her life to raising her five children. She blessed countless lives of children through her involvement with Operation Christmas Child. 

Judy is survived by her husband of 16 years, Bill Assini; her children, Susan (Robert) McCrackin of Santee, CA, Ric (Amy) Johnston of Redlands, CA, Debbi (Mike) Levell of Cozad, NE, Michael Johnston of Cozad, NE, and Cindi (Brian) Johnston of King City, CA; her beloved grandchildren, Heather, Nick, Ryan, Ryan, Erik, Robert, Jack and Olivia, and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Byron; and sisters Betty Byron and Chloe Byron. 

Judy was passionate about her family, volunteering at church and taking care of her lawn. She had a kind heart, a generous spirit, an infectious smile and encouraging conversations that could brighten anyone's day. 

A memorial service to celebrate Judy’s life will be held Friday, June 28, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Center Street Methodist Church, 406 E. Center Street, Tucumcari, NM. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Medical Center League House through the Center Street Methodist Church. 

Judy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
