Johnell Mayfield Archer, 70, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on October 4, 2023.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 9, 2023 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
She was born July 11, 1953 in Perryton, Texas to John and Nell Mayfield. She was the oldest of six children. Johnell graduated from Perryton High School, attended Temple Junior College, graduated West Texas State University, and obtained her Real Estate License at the same time with a Bachelor of Business Administration.
Johnell had numerous hobbies such as flower arranging, quilting, sewing, painting, jewelry making, and glass blowing. Her greatest accomplishment is the birth of her two children, Ben Archer and Sam Archer, and watching them become fathers to her beautiful grandchildren. Her fondest memories are the times she cherished with her children and being “NeNe” to her grandchildren. Memories of going to church and sharing her faith with friends, spending the weekends with Nonie, summers with Mama Maye, and times with her many cousins brought so much joy. Her devotion and love for her siblings and family is what she cherished the most. She enjoyed the laughter most of all.
She gave her life to Christ at an early age and was filled with the Holy Spirit. Her faith has been the foundation that has carried her through the past several years as she battled cancer, kidney failure, and multiple myeloma.
Johnell is preceded in death by her daughter Haley Helen Hammerbeck, parents John and Nell Mayfield, and niece Natalie Michelle Cryer.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Benjamin Harrison Archer (Sara McNeer Archer) and James Samuel Archer (Ashleigh Price Archer); 5 beautiful grandchildren; Aisleigh, Easton, Mary Claire, Callahan and Harris; devoted family members: Gail and Bambi Mayfield, Peggy and Haider Khan, Molly and Bob Keith, Mary Mayfield, Paula Mayfield, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that are considered family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to 24 Hours in the Canyon in memory of Johnell.
