John Robert "Bob" Baker – December 13, 2012

John Robert “Bob” Baker, 82, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at Pinnacle Community Church, 7200 Arden Road, with Kurt Oheim officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Bob was born March 16, 1930, to Joseph Emmitt and Nona Mae Baker in Ivan Hoe.  He proudly served his country joining the Army on Dec. 6, 1948, serving in the heavy weapons infantry.  Bob married Olivia Fennel on Aug. 21, 1949, and together had six children.  They divorced in 1993.  Bob had a career as an auto mechanic.  He enjoyed all kinds of racing, fishing, building and flying model airplanes.  He was a member of Triple D Model Airplane Club in Dumas, the American Model Association, and the Buffalo RC Club.
The family thanks the staff at Ussery-Roan Texas Veteran’s Home for the loving care they gave to Bob.  He was loved by many and he loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Bill and Sid.
Survivors include a sister, Betty Ballew of Oklahoma City, Okla.; sons, Joseph Robert Baker of Lubbock, John Randall Baker and wife Marla of Lake in the Hills, IL, Jerry Dale Baker and wife Kathryn of Lubbock, David Wayne Baker and wife Traci, and Marvin Anthony Baker and wife TJ, all of Amarillo; a daughter, Sharon Flatte of Dallas; eleven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
