Joe Flores, Jr., 75, of Amarillo, Texas was ushered into the arms of Jesus Christ, Monday, January 22, 2024.
Visitation with the family will be from 6-7 p.m., Friday, January 26, 2024, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 27, 2024, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Jason Flores officiating.
Joe was born on June 11, 1948, in Amarillo, Texas to Aurora Hernandez and Joe Flores, Sr., and blessed by his loving grandfather, Catarino Flores who helped to raise him.
Joe worked for Iowa Beef Packers (IBP), Santa Fe Railroad, The City of Amarillo, Affiliated Foods, and Allstate Security. Some of things that Joe enjoyed was listening to music, enjoying family and friends, and playing horseshoes. He is remembered as being a good husband and provider for his family, generous with his time and resources, a selfless giver, someone who would help others in need, and a faithful friend.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Maria Flores, of Amarillo, Texas; together raising five children; Joe Griego of Amarillo, Texas; Connie Fulks and husband Bill, of The Colony, Texas; Jason Flores and wife Laura, Jennifer Widowski and husband Matthew, Angelo Flores, all of Amarillo, Texas. Sons Anthony Flores, and Robert Flores of Amarillo, Texas; Twin Sister Josephine Barrera and husband Antonio, sister, Christina Velasco and husband Abel, brother Louie Herrera, all of Amarillo; brother Gilbert Gutierrez of Odessa, Texas; Seventeen grandchildren and Thirty-five great grandchildren, and many more extended family members.
Preceded in death by grandfather, Catarino Flores; mother, Aurora Hernandez; father, Joe Flores, Sr.; brother, Roy Herrera; and sister, Alice Flores.
