Joe Burnett – May 4, 2018

Joe Burnett

Joe Burnett

Joe was born January 2, 1945 in Clovis, New Mexico to Elmer and Elsie Burnett.  He was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on May 4, 2018.  He was a member of Arden Road Baptist Church.

Joe grew up on the family farm near Bellview, New Mexico.  He married Terri Harper on March 27, 1965 in Farmington, New Mexico.  He worked there for the next 13 years for Shell Pipeline.  In 1976, Joe moved back to take over the family farm.  In later years, he moved to Texas and was a self-employed truck driver.

Joe was a quiet and thoughtful man who was generous with his time helping family, friends, and neighbors.  But his family was his greatest love.  He enjoyed going fishing with his daughters and supporting their passion for basketball.  Later, his greatest delight was his five grandsons and was always there to support them.  He attended their sporting events, musical performances, and all the other activities that were important to them.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers Jimmy Burnett and Robert Burnett.

Joe is survived by his wife, Terri; two daughters, Gina Clark and husband Chip of Amarillo, and Julie Wiskey and husband Rich of Panhandle; and grandsons, Michael Clark, Dylan Clark, Shane Smith, Andrew Smith, and Joe Smith.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Pastor Josh Light officiating.

The family suggests memorials be made to the New Mexico Christian Children’s Home, 1356 NM-236, Portales, NM 88130.

    Teri, Gina & Julie,
Our hearts are with you during these days. I was honored to be your pastor so many years ago and I rejoice in Joe’s home going for it is his deserved reward for faithfully accepting and living for our Lord Jesus Christ. May God fill your hearts with love and memories until we join him one day. Love Paul and Trina.

Joe was a kind good man, he reminded me of my beautiful father Ray Hubble. They had similar backgrounds and both were loved by many people. I know Joe is in heaven, because he had a loving heart and his kindness always spoke volumes in his quiet warmth.
We send you our continued prayers and that blessings of peace be all around you.
