Seiger Obit PhotoJoAnn Seiger, 80, formerly of Coos Bay, Ore., died Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, in Amarillo, Texas.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
JoAnn was born Dec. 16, 1933, in Potlatch, Idaho, to Stanley and Goldie (Berry) Gregory. She married Thomas Seiger on Dec. 31, 1951, in St. Maries, Idaho.
JoAnn was a registered nurse serving in hospitals and nursing homes in Tempe, Ariz., Albuquerque, N.M., and Great Barrington, Mass. She also was a member of St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Amarillo.
JoAnn will always be remembered for her smile, kind words, paintings and homemade cards, her autobiography and her love of strawberries and irises.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Rowena Smith; two daughters, Katherine and Teresa Seiger; and a son, Paul Seiger.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas Seiger of Amarillo; her brother, Richard Gregory and wife Colene of Twin Falls, Idaho; seven sons, Thomas and wife Bobbi of Chandler, Ariz., Andy and wife Juanita of Tucson, Ariz., Fredrick and wife Lourdes of Oak Harbor, Wash., Greg and wife Ellen of Lolo, Mont., Ernest and wife Maryann of Los Lunas, N.M., Steve and wife Rose of Bedford, N.H., and Bill and wife Julie of Concord, N.H.; a daughter, Margaret and husband Terry Bouchard, of Perryton, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and six  great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163-4777.
