Joann was born on November 30, 1934 in Sunray, TX to James and Susie
West. She married Carl McReynolds on September 14, 1953 and had 5 children whom they raised with much love and care while in the military. Joann always made time for everyone she met. She always provided support and love for her family. She and her husband Carl “Bud” worked to provide opportunities for their kids and grandkids.
Joann was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and held many positions throughout the years. By far her favorite would have been working with the children of the church. She was the Co-Director of Pathfinders for many years and would do winter camping with the kids so they could get their honors. She loved helping them get as many honors as they could even if it had to do with snakes. She taught the primary age kids for over 40 years before deciding it was time to try an adult class. Her oldest grandchild always said “no one could tell a story like Grandma Jody”.
Every summer she would go to summer camp and help with the crafts. She would help teach leather craft at blind camp then braiding and leather for the next camp. This continued for 30 years. Children were her life.
She retired from Amarillo ISD Food Service in 1997. She worked in the schools as the food service manager before her last school of Caprock where she retired.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Carl McReynolds, Son Danny McReynolds, Son Tony McReynolds, and Daughter, Penny McDougall
