JoAnn McAnelly Daniel

JoAnn Daniel, 88, of Amarillo, Texas joined her heavenly father on March 8, 2025. JoAnn was born on April 1,1936 in Pottsville, Texas to Ervin Buddy McAnelly and Ruby Irene (Waggoner) McAnelly.

JoAnn spent her early years in Hamilton County Texas before they moved to Tulia Texas. JoAnn graduated from Tulia High School. In high school, JoAnn was a drum majorette and participated in numerous clubs. After high school, JoAnn married William Luther Daniel on December 31, 1954 in Tulia, Texas. They supported each other and remained married for the next 70 years.

JoAnn was a housewife while she raised her two sons (Russell and Bruce). She then worked as a secretary for an insurance firm and as a salesperson in Hallmark stores.

JoAnn loved spending time and supporting her sons and grandchildren. She was always willing to help with schoolwork, reading in class or supporting school fund raisers.

JoAnn spent much of her spare time volunteering and serving the community in various clubs. She could always be counted on if someone needed help or support. JoAnn was a member of the Tulia Women’s Division of the Chamber of Commerce, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Christian Women’s Connection.

JoAnn also rejoiced and shared her faith in our Lord with her community. Over the years, she served as the Church Secretary, Children’s Director, Vacation Bible School leader and multiple other positions. She also participated in the “Glory Singers” at Paramount Baptist Church. No matter where JoAnn lived (Tulia, Tx, Las Vegas, NV, Aiken, SC or Amarillo Tx), she was always active and participated in the Baptist Church.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents Buddy and Ruby McAnelly and her brother Billy Ervin McAnelly, and her sister Susan McAnelly.

JoAnn is survived by her husband William Luther Daniel of Amarillo, Texas, and her sons: Russell Daniel and wife Karen of Six Mile, South Carolina and Bruce Daniel and wife Debbie of Canyon, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Christopher Daniel and wife Anna of Charleston, South Carolina, Robert Daniel and wife Jordan of Houston, Texas, Breanna McCarthy and husband Sean of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Amy Vancleave and husband Jeremy of Canyon, Texas: Erika Ellis and husband Randy of Pampa, Texas, and Jade Skinner of Frisco, Texas, and her great grandchildren: Clara, Emma, Seth, Noah, Remi and Griffin Daniel, Quency Wood, Brynlei and Adilyn Ellis, and Declan Couch.

A memorial service is pending to remember JoAnn and celebrate her life. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo, Texas. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either Paramount Baptist Church in Amarillo or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
