Jimmy Ray Spencer "Jimbo” saw King Jesus on March 18, 2025.

Jimmy was born in Clarksville Texas on April 28, 1940 (at least that was the day we celebrated).

Jimmy was born to John Robert Spencer and Irene Spencer.

Jimmy hitchhiked to Wheeler Texas around 1960 and worked on his Aunt and Uncles dairy farm. There he met Jeanette Morgan from Mobeetie at church. Jimmy and Jeanette married on September 14, 1963.

Jimmy and Jeanette moved to Amarillo and Jimmy started his career with the City of Amarillo. He started at the city picking up trash on the back of a truck and eventually worked his way up the ladder. He retired at age 54 in 1995 after 34 1/2 years with the city as a foreman over the municipal garage tire shop.

Jimmy and Jeanette were married for 17 years before the Lord blessed them with a little miracle. Jenea was born in 1980 and was their pride and joy and their world.

Jimmy and Jeanette were always active in church. They attended the First Assembly of God in Canyon for over 30 years and Jimmy was a deacon and on the board for many of those years. They also attended Family Worship Center where they loved being the door greeters and then Yes Lord Church of Amarillo.

Jimmy loved unconditionally because of the Lord. Anyone that met Jimmy felt loved and he made them feel like they were the most important person in the world. He always made others know they mattered.

Jimmy and Jeanette began to reap their harvest of blessings when their daughter Jenea married Jerry Oakley in 2014.

Jerry instantly became a son to Jimmy and Jeanette and Jimmy loved Jerry "the most." Jimmy and Jerry were best friends and loved spending many hours fishing together or just being around each other. Jimmy and Jeanette were highly blessed with 4 grandsons.

After Jimmy retired, he enjoyed gardening, taking care of his yard, camping, baking zucchini bread, cooking, fishing, hanging out at Whataburger, walking laps at Walmart, and spending hours in his lawn chair out in the driveway with Jeanette. This is where they would supervise the neighborhood and were always cracking jokes and being ornery. Jeanette called Jimmy the mayor of the block. Everyone on the block, including kids, knew that Jimbo's house was where they could stop and visit and even have a glass of sweet tea. Jimmy and Jeanette lived in their home for almost 60 years. They loved to visit with people and never met a stranger.

Of course their favorite thing was worshipping Jesus, reading the Word, and being with their little family.

Jimmy was greeted in Heaven by his parents, two of his brothers Lewis and Bob Spencer and his beautiful wife Jeanette and many others.

And of course his best buddy Jesse, his beloved dog, jumped right into his arms!!

Jimmy is survived by his daughter Jenea Oakley and her husband (son)Jerry Oakley and their precious grandsons Adam, Jayden, Jace, and Zyler Oakley all of Amarillo, Texas.

He is survived by many who loved him dearly and are special to his family. He is also survived by his brother Raymond Spencer and wife Linda of Clarksville, Texas. Jimmy is also survived by his nephews and nieces that he adored. He had a special place in his heart for Rhonda Reed and her girls.

There is no doubt that Jimmy heard WELL DONE MY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT! The Lord also told him, Jimmy, thank you for loving my people well.

He will be greatly missed by many that loved him!

FISH ON JIMBO!
