Jimmie D. Cain, 69, of Amarillo, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2012.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Craig Holcomb officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Cain was born Oct. 27, 1943, in Portland, Oregon to Preston and Fairy Cain. His parents died early in his life and he was raised by his aunt and uncle, Raymond and Lora Mears. He grew up and graduated in Farwell in 1961. Mr. Cain served in the Army and retired from the Texas National Guard.
He married Zell Billingsley on Nov. 16, 1963. She preceded him in death on Jan. 19, 2011.
Mr. Cain was currently owner/operator of Cowboy Taters of Texas “Tater Wagon”. He worked for Culligan Water Company for 17 years and had retired from the Bureau of Mines Helium Plant.
He was a member of M.E.N. of ESA.
He also was preceded in death by a brother, Preston; and two sisters, Baby and Alice.
Survivors include a son, Ronnie Cain and wife Briget of Amarillo; a daughter, Cyndi McFarlin and husband Chris of Amarillo; a sister, Georgie “Porgie” Rundell of Clovis, New Mexico; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, JoVeta and Benny Darnell; five grandchildren, Mason, Savannah, Ty, Cassie and Shelby; several nieces and nephews; and two dogs, Mini and Sandy.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at the funeral home.
