Jerry J. Miller, 83, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Brian Hesse, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 4:00 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Clara. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Miller was born June 18, 1929, in Big Spring to Jerry and Eula Miller. He was an honors graduate and earned his law degree in 1960 from the University of Texas (College of Law) where he earned the accolade of Quiz Master while actively serving in the reserves. Mr. Miller proudly served his country in the Navy on active duty and later in the reserves. In 1982, he retired from the Navy at the rank of Captain.
On Oct. 14, 1951, he married Arnelda Muller, who preceded him in death on Feb. 6, 1987. He married Barbara Schutts Roberts in Amarillo on Nov. 25, 1989.
Mr. Miller retired in 1985, after a 25-year career as in house legal counsel with Phillips Petroleum Company.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Arnelda; a son, Tony Miller; a grandson, Stephan; and a sister, Bettye Evans.
Survivors include his wife Barbara Miller, of Amarillo; three daughters, Valerie Harston and husband Mark, Leslie Tuckness and husband Bryan, and Jennifer Siess, all of Amarillo; a son, Kurt Miller and Kendra Woods of Round Rock; a daughter-in-law, Lorna Miller of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Christine Otterness and husband Brian of Amarillo; eighteen grandchildren, Alexis, Raina, Shanna, Morgan, Anastasia, Justin, Brianne, Brittany, Taryn, Teal, Cydnie, Eiryn, Nate, Josie, Harrison, Katrin, and Lauren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Jerry’s caregivers, Ware Memorial Care Center and BSA Hospice for all of their compassion and care.
