Jerry Elbert Whitten – March 13, 2012


Jerry Elbert Whitten, 68, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, March 13, 2012.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 16, 2012 at Memorial Park Cemetery at Vega with Dean Whaley of Bell Avenue Church of Christ officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Whitten was born June 25, 1943, in Amarillo to Elbert and Gertrude Whitten.  He grew up between Adrian and Vega.  He married Glenna Baldwin in 1988 in Amarillo.  Mr. Whitten was a member of Adrian Church of Christ.  He worked for Bell Helicopter, Central Church of Christ, First Christian Church and Furr Foods.  He was on the board of directors of the High Plains Scottish Heritage Society.
Survivors include his wife of twenty-four years, Glenna Whitten; two brothers, David Whitten of Adrian and Dale Whitten of Amarillo; a sister, Betty Bell of Chillicothe; two daughters, Mary Ann Cossey of Wetumka, Alabama and Kae Romero and husband Tony of Amarillo; two sons, Jay Whitten and wife Dee of Decatur and Jimmy Whitten of Wetumpka, Alabama; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be Thursday at Boxwell Brothers in Amarillo.
The family suggests memorials be to Memorial Park Cemetery at Vega, PO Box 496, Vega, TX 79092.
