Jay Stanley “Stan” Teague

Jay Stanley “Stan” Teague, 71, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on October 20, 2023.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Washington Avenue Christian Church with Lennie McCay officiating.

Stan was born in Pampa, Texas on May 7, 1952, to J.C. and Verna Teague.  They moved to Amarillo when Stan and his brother, Kenneth, were young.  He, his brother and father were actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America, where Stan was elected into the

Order of the Arrow

and earned the rank of Eagle. He graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1970.  Stan married his high school sweetheart, Barbara, soon after. Their marriage gave them two sons, Jason and Eric. Stan attended Amarillo College and worked various jobs before his employment at Owens Corning Fiberglass when it first opened in 1978 until his retirement in April of 2015.

While working at Owens Corning, Stan met the love of his life, Linda. They were married in November of 1980. They truly lived for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, and loved and cherished each other until death parted them.

Stan had many interests and hobbies. He was fascinated with astronomy to geology.  He appreciated sports from NASCAR to Football (and any sport his grandchildren were involved in). Stan liked the silliness of movies such as Young Frankenstein, and he was also a huge fan of Star Trek and Star Wars. He enjoyed relaxing in his house, but being outside was where he preferred to spend his time; watching the various birds or just enjoying his dogs. One thing about Stan was that no matter where he was or what he was doing, he was almost

always

listening to music. It was his passion, and it was a form of communication for him. He was a big fan of the Beatles, Pink Floyd, and many classic rock bands. Traveling was another thing Stan enjoyed.  Some of his favorite places were the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado, as well as any place his children happened to be.  He was always ready for a road trip, whether it was a short ride or a trip to New Jersey, Wisconsin, or New Braunfels to see his kids and grandkids.

These are all things that Stan enjoyed and had a deep connection to, but there was nothing he loved more than his family. He loved all five of his children and his 6 grandchildren with every bit of his heart, and Stan would have done absolutely anything for any one of them. His sisters-in-law and brother-in-law were his closest friends, and his nieces and cousins adored him.

There will never be another Stan Teague, and he will be missed by many.

Stan was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Teague, a brother, Kenneth Teague, his parents, J.C. and Verna Teague, and his son-in-law, Jerry Sanders.

He is survived by his daughters, Daphne Sanders, and Carrie Gimpel and her husband Dallas, both of Amarillo, Texas; his three sons, Monty Ulibarri and his wife Kara, of New Braunfels, Texas, Jason Teague and wife Mindy, of Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin, and Eric Teague of Perth Amboy, New Jersey; his grandchildren, Nathan, Nolan and his wife Madison, and Lindsie Gimpel, Marlee Ulibarri, along with Kenzie and Jayden Teague; his sister-in-law, Pat and her husband Bill Needham of Amarillo, Texas; and his sister-in-law, Brenda, of Levelland, TX. He also leaves behind his furry sons, Ryder and Rascal.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Parkinson’s Foundation or to a favorite charity.
