Janice Laseter began her life in Amarillo, Texas on August 15, 1941. She went to her heavenly home on August 1, 2018.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 4, 2018, at Trinity Fellowship Church, North Student Ministry Center, with Dr. Jeff Brodsky officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Some of the things she loved included flowers, art, music, recipes and food, God and Jesus, teaching, sewing, designing, painting, dreaming and laughing…. yes, definitely laughing. She enriched the lives of others through these same things and through simply being herself and finding ways to love. She was a sparkling light to all who knew her.
At a young age, she opened her heart and her life to God’s love and to the guidance of Jesus. Her day-to-day life embodied that love and guidance in many ways, and she shared it with everyone who had the opportunity to meet her.
She attended Amarillo public schools, Amarillo College, and Texas Tech University where she earned a bachelor degree in home economics. Among other employment positions, she taught at the high school level for eleven years.
Perhaps her most creative endeavors were in growing flowers and in her artwork. She knew beauty and knew how to produce and sustain it. And she knew how to share it with others. The ordinary truly became extraordinary with anything she put her mind to.
She is survived by her husband Bill, her daughter Meghan Brodsky and husband Lance, her son Ryan Laseter, her brother Jack Dison, and seven grandchildren.
Janice will be missed. The world was a better place for her having been here. Maybe we can (or will be able to) catch a glimpse of her as she finds the beauty in the heavenly fields of flowers, but this time dancing there with her Savior – dancing wild and free.
