Janice E. Golladay, 88 departed the earthly realm January 22, 2025. Janice was born on December 29, 1936, to Ethel and Paul Townsend in Groom, Texas. Janice lost her Father, Paul Townsend in World War Il at the Battle of the Bulge. She, her mother and her sister moved from Groom, Texas to Amarillo. Janice attended and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1954. Janice met and married Ronnie W. Golladay on June 25, 1954, and the two of them began their life together. They had two children, Greg and Tracey. Ronnie was a registered Land Surveyor, and they started Golladay & Associates. Janice was a piano teacher and taught piano lessons to hundreds of children in the Amarillo area for 30 years, keeping up the legacy her mother started as a piano teacher.
Janice loved all sports, but particularly Baseball. She rarely missed a Rangers game. Janice loved to play golf, although not very accomplished. She would play anytime in any kind of weather, and she walked and carried her golf bag into her mid 70's. She loved animals, especially dogs, and she had a number of them during her life. She loved nature, beautiful sunlight, growing and nurturing plants. In 2010 Janice had a debilitating stroke that prevented her from living a normal life. She spent months in the Hospital and Rehab learning to walk and operate with her physical disabilities. She worked hard to get her life back. Two years after her stroke, Ronnie died unexpectedly. Janice lived alone for a number of years until she had a bad fall in 2020. Another Hospital stay, and it was determined, she could no longer safely live at home. She moved to The Moore Assisted Living Facility at Park Place. After a brief adjustment period, Janice acclimated to the Moore Community and dearly loved the residents and staff. She very happily lived at the Moore, socializing, playing Bingo and eating three meals a day with her friends. She had another bad fall in 2024 and was moved to the Ware Full Nursing Facility. She loved the caring staff and residents at the Ware, but her health was on a steady decline, and she passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025.
Janice is predeceased by her Husband, Ronnie W. Golladay, her father, Paul Townsend, her Sister Paula Townsend Hedgecoke and her Mother, Ethel Townsend Nunn.
Janice, affectionately known as Grandma, was survived by her children, Greg Golladay, and wife Julie, Tracey Dickson, and husband Mike.
