Janice Corrine Maciel Nimmo

Janice Corrine Maciel Nimmo, 65, lost her long-term struggle with cancer on April 19, 2022, at her home in Amarillo with her loving husband by her side.

Celebration of life services will be at 4:30 p.m., Friday, April 22, 2022, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. with Steve Donnell officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Janice came into this world on November 1, 1956, in Galesburg, Illinois, where she graduated from Galesburg High School in 1974.

Janice was married to her husband, Larry Nimmo for almost forty years.  Their wedding date was June 23, 1982.

She loved driving on challenging trails in her Jeep Rubicon, she was a Trail Guide at the Palo Duro Jeep Jamboree, and she loved the Canadian River.  She also enjoyed the scenic vistas around Silverton, Colorado.  She loved boating, storm chasing, and building a campfire.  Janice also loved decorating for the holidays and seasons, growing flowers, maintaining an immaculate lawn, and traveling.

Janice Nimmo was a valued employee at the City of Amarillo in the Parks Department until her retirement in 2019.  Co-workers and supervisors can attest to her strong work ethic.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ventura Maciel; and sister, Valerie Cozad.

Janice Nimmo is survived by her husband, Larry, of Amarillo; two brothers, Ludger Maciel and wife Marti, and Vincent Maciel; two sisters, Anna Allen and husband John, and Margo McCoy and husband Kevin, all from Galesburg, Illinois.
