Jane Ann Lyons Herndon, lovingly known as Mimi to her grandchildren and many others, passed away on August 31, 2023, in Amarillo, Texas, at the age of 68. She was born on April 24, 1955, in Hereford Texas, to Margaret Jane Barrett Lyons and Paul Frank Lyons.
Jane was a woman who cherished her family above all else. She found great joy in spending time with her daughters and their husbands, Angie and Jeremy Farmer, and Amanda and Jason Weatherbee. Her grandchildren, Caden and fiancé Raven, Keston Farmer, and Connor and Emma Weatherbee held a special place in her heart.
Jane received her education at Hereford High School and later pursued higher education at West Texas A&M University. She valued the importance of learning and continuously sought knowledge to better herself and those around her. She was a beloved elementary school teacher and real estate agent. She dedicated herself to shaping young minds and helping families find their dream homes. Her passion for education and housing made a significant impact on the lives of those she encountered.
Jane’s warm and friendly nature allowed her to easily make new friends while maintaining connections with old ones. She embraced every opportunity to create lasting memories with her loved ones. Her genuine love and care for her family and friends will be deeply missed.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Paul Lyons, and a sister, Elizabeth Lyons Hankins. She is survived by her two daughters Amanda and husband Jason Weatherbee of Rockwall, Tx, and Angie and husband Jeremy Farmer of Fritch, Tx. Her brother, Robert and wife Kathy Lyons of Amarillo, Tx, and brother-in-law Jim Hankins of Celina, Tx. Her four grandchildren, Caden and fiancé Raven of Amarillo, Tx, Keston Farmer of Fritch, Tx. and Connor and Emma Weatherbee of Rockwall, Tx. Jane always loved seeing her niece’s and nephew’s, Abbie and husband Scott Pitzer, Mitch and wife Krystina Lyons, Hunter Hankins and wife Courtney, Kaitlyn and husband Stephen Champagne, and Haley and husband Chad Joy. She also has many great neices and nephews she loved very much.
A celebration of Jane’s beautiful life will be held at a later date. This gathering will provide an opportunity for family, friends, and loved ones to come together and honor her memory.
Jane Lyons Herndon leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication. She will forever be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, friend, and educator.
