Trey was born in Amarillo, TX on November 11, 1984 to Robin and James Holmes. He grew up at San Jacinto Baptist Church and later attended Hillside Christian Church. He graduated from San Jacinto Christian Academy in 2004. Although his official career at Holmes Construction Company began after his graduation, he spent most of his childhood and early teens spending time on job sites learning everything he could from his father, uncle, and grandfather.
From the moment Trey was born, he captured the hearts of his entire family. As he grew older, his love for his family and friends grew tremendously. His favorite times were always spent with his family, and he especially loved his large family getting together on beautiful days and spending the afternoon in Meme and Pawpaw’s backyard. Some of his most treasured moments were spent helping Mema and Papa Jim and watching the birds in their backyard. Trey had an amazing work ethic and loved operating all tractors and heavy equipment. He also loved the outdoors and spending time with his dad, trapshooting, boating, riding motorcycles, and driving four-wheelers way too fast. Trey and his dad were always together looking for fun adventure and their motto was “Work Hard, Play Hard.”
Trey is survived by his parents, James and Robin Holmes; sister, Amanda Trinh and husband Tyson; nephew ,Eli Trinh; nieces, Esther and Eden Trinh; grandparents, James and Shirley Holmes and Roy and Jennie Duck; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who all loved him dearly.
Donations can be made in Trey’s name to MD Anderson Sarcoma Center.
