James Stephen “Steve” Brown

James Stephen “Steve” Brown, 67, of Amarillo, TX died Tuesday, March 8, 2022.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

He was born July 2, 1954, in Amarillo, TX.

In 2004, Steve married Theresa Baker.  She was always there when he needed her.

Steve had a passion for cooking, and man could he cook the perfect steak!  He was a chef at several restaurants, managed a few, and owned his own restaurant, the Glenn in Tulsa, OK. He also worked at Cross Timbers (Amarillo, TX), Molly Murphy’s (Tulsa, OK), Chili’s (Amarillo, TX), and a few other places.

He had a very dry sense of humor, that not everyone got!  Seinfeld was one of his favorite shows.

Steve also was very interested in watching weather events as they developed and changed.  He could often be found out tornado watching rather than taking shelter in a safe place!

Steve loved music and could play the guitar extremely well.  He could also play any song from memory, just by hearing the song before.  Heather, one of his daughters, would always ask him to play a song and he could play whatever she asked.  His favorite band was Chicago, and Neil Diamond was a favorite artist.

Most of all, Steve will be remembered as a very kind, good man, loved by many.

Steve was preceded in death by his dad, Joy Richie; and grandmothers, Mary Richie, and Ruby McGlasson.

Survivors include his wife, Theresa Brown, of Amarillo, TX; his mother, Marilyn Richie, of Amarillo, TX; daughter, Stephanie Brown Massey, of Tulsa, OK and her children, Caden and Jaxson; son, Dustin Brown, of Tulsa, OK; daughter, Heather Brown of Tulsa, OK, and her children, HayZlee Jean, and arriving at the end of March, Jaxson James; brother, David Brown, of Amarillo, TX; sister, Tracy Baldwin and husband Greg, of Amarillo, TX; Joey Haas and family, and William Haas and family; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
