James “Jim” Joseph Blatzheim, 81, of Henderson, Nevada departed to be with the Lord on Monday, November 11, 2024.
Jim was born on January 13, 1943, in Amarillo, Texas, to parents Donald C. and Mary Marjorie “Marge” Blatzheim. He graduated from Price College in 1961, then went on to West Texas State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. He worked as a computer programmer, systems analyst, and gas measurement office manager for various companies until his retirement. Jim married Pamela in Amarillo on September 10, 1966, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. They had two children, Phillip and Barbara.
Jim had many interests and hobbies, including, sudoku and crossword puzzles, golf, applying his math skills at casino games, and spending time with his family and friends. In his younger years Jim enjoyed playing golf, hiking in the Colorado Rockies, and exploring National Parks and historical sites with his family. Following retirement, Jim and Pam traveled the United States in their RV, settling in Henderson, Nevada, in 2016. Jim lived a life of service to the communities where he lived. He was an EMT for the Lake Tanglewood Volunteer Fire Department. Over the last few years, he drove in the neighborhood community patrol in his neighborhood in Henderson. Jim was a faithful member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Amarillo, Texas, and more recently at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Henderson, Nevada.
Jim is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pamela; children, Phillip and Laura Blatzheim (daughter-in-law), of Richardson, Texas, and Barbara and Briton Woody(son-in-law), of Lubbock, Texas. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Ryan, Neil, Mary, Mark, Tim, Jack, and Daniel. Preceding Jim in death are his parents Donald and Marjorie, and brother Donald Charles “Don”.
Rosary service will be at 6:00 PM, Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Friday, November 22, 2024 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 4100 Coulter St. Interment will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
