Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Coy L. Quesenbury, retired minister, and Don Speedy, senior pastor, Cornerstone Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
James was born March 26, 1925, in Malakoff to James and Dollie Knutson. He served in the Army during the Korean War. James married Jean Benedict on Feb. 20, 1954. She preceded him in death on Aug. 15, 2004. He began work for Santa Fe Railway on April 1, 1942 and retired on May 31, 1985.
He also was preceded in death by a son, Kenny Knutson and a sister, Billie Williams.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Burkett and husband Glenn of Amarillo and Carolyn Shannon and husband Ray of Boerne; two grandchildren, Mandy and Mendy; and three great-grandchildren, Riley, Christian and Landon.
Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church, 4400 Crockett Street, Amarillo, TX 79110; or to a favorite charity.
