Irma was born August 14, 1953 in Amarillo, Texas to Esteban and Esperanza Ballin. As Irma would say “she went to meet her maker” on Dec.13, 2024. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings Steven, Macario, David, Armando, Delia and granddaughter Savanah.
She is survived by a sister, Diane Cox; husband, Alcario; children, Robert, Tina, Isaac, Hopie, and Andrew and wife Rosalee Arellano; grandchildren, Destanie, Robert, Orlando, Sabrina, Noah, Ayden, Alexavier, and Isaiah; and grand dogs, Panda, Niddles, Melie Emmee, and Milo.
Irma went by many names, Mom, Grandma, Wela, Sister, Auntie, Tia, Friend, Wife, but as most would know her best Miss B. Irma grew up in The Barrio where she attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School and has since been a lifelong member. She graduated from Caprock High School in 1972 where she was a cheerleader and as she would say where she met some of her lifelong friends. After high school, she attended college at Southwestern Texas State in San Marcos, TX. She then came back to Amarillo and met her best friend Maxine and worked at Kleins Department Store as a gift wrapper. She went on to meet Alcario at church where he was taking his son to Sunday school. This is when she gained her two children Robert and Tina. They fell in love and got married 2 years later. That same year she got pregnant with their first child, and she went on to have her other miracle babies as she called them. Being a mom was her greatest accomplishment but being a grandma is what really brought her joy. Her life was filled with sporting events, trips to see her family, and most of all doing what she loved, cooking meals. Irma was one of the best cooks there was, and anyone who had her food would agree. She had a way of opening her home with food that brought people together and opened their hearts. Over the years, her kids grew and had children. This is when she truly shined. Taking care of the grandkids gave her a new sense of purpose. She loved staying home trying to find which episode of the Young and the Restless she wanted to watch and finding new ways to spoil her grandkids. You could also find her cruising the streets or the grocery store in her scooter. Irma never forgot a special occasion and always had a gift hidden away in her closet. Although her battle with cancer in the end seemed heavy, her faith in God and being a devout catholic is what brought her peace. We pray you remember her big smile, loud laugh and red lipstick. She stayed true to her family and if you were lucky enough to have her in your life you know she always had your back. “By the sweat of your face You will eat bread until you return to the ground, For from it you were taken; For you are dust and to dust you shall return”.
