Irene Ritchey

Irene Ritchey, 88, of Amarillo, TX passed away on June 21, 2022.

Services will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, June 27, 2022, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Dr. G. A. Roach officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo.

Irene was born in Dalhart, TX on March 3, 1934, to Gladys and Arthur Ritchey.

Irene was a hard worker and thoroughly enjoyed her job. She finally retired after she turned 84 years old. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling and holidays – especially Christmas. Irene enjoyed going out to eat out at her favorite places, Red Lobster, Hoffbrau and she also loved a good hamburger.

Irene enjoyed taking her son, Stacey, when he was younger to Dallas Cowboy football games on Thanksgiving. They did this for 11 years. Irene and Stacey also traveled to numerous places and created memories to last a lifetime.

Irene especially loved her grandchildren and great-grand babies. There was no end to Irene’s love – she loved with every ounce of her heart. Irene was the constant in her family. She was patient, kind, loyal and selfless. Irene’s life was dedicated to taking care of the family that she created. She was a very intelligent and independent woman. Her smile and laughter was contagious. Anytime you walked into her door, she greeted you with her signature “hello” and a hug. Always a hug. She could make a bad day turn into the best day just by speaking.

Irene lived a simple life, just the way she liked. She knew what she wanted and achieved everything she set her mind to.

She is survived by her son, Stacey Ritchey and wife Tamara, of Amarillo, TX; sister, Dee Baumann and husband John, of Michigan; grandchildren, Leigha Sharp, Andrew Ritchey and wife Yulisa, Bailey Ruckman and husband Clint, and Kate Nikkel; great-grandkids, Nevaeh, Braxton, Rowan, Lennon, Knox, and Gavin; and countless nieces and nephews that adored her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Ritchey; mother, Gladys Ritchey; sister, Barbara Crim; and brothers, Don Ritchey, and Curtis Ritchey.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M., Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Brookdale Senior Living for all that they did for Grans.
