Ignacio Vigil Jr., 75, of Amarillo, TX died Wednesday, December 27, 2023.

Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m., Friday, December 29, 2023, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd.  A Catholic funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 30, 2023, at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 1200 S. Washington.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Ignacio was born November 7, 1948, in Mosquero, NM to Cornelia and Ignacio Vigil, Sr.

He married Celina Ulibarri on April 3, 1965.

For more than 30 years, Ignacio worked for Overhead Door Company, and then worked as a carpenter in the construction industry, retiring following that second career.

Ignacio enjoyed spending time at his ranch in New Mexico, doing a little gambling in the casinos, camping, and fishing, but most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he adored.   Whenever he could, he watched his favorite NFL team, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Ignacio was preceded in death by his mother, Cornelia Vigil, and father, Ignacio Vigil Sr., his daughter, Monica Solis; and son-in-law, Scott Mayes.

Survivors include his wife, Celina Vigil; his daughters, Cathy Cordova and husband Mark, and Annette Mayes; grandchildren, Vanessa Luna and husband Robert “Chingon”, Tara Bowerman and husband Dustin “Wilson”, Joseph Cordova and wife Victoria, Jonathan Mayes and wife Emma, and Mariah Tucker and husband Terrill; great-grandchildren, Faith, Xzavian, Ava, Alex, Rylee, Lilly, Mason, Slayde, Hope, Charley, and Andres; along with lots of extended family, and friends who are just like family.
