Howard Diedrichsen, 79, of Dumas, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012.
Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, April 13, 2012 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with The Reverend Don Poole, pastor, officiating. Private burial will be at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox
Howard Diedrichsen was born to George and Louise Diedrichsen in Pender, Nebraska. After serving in the Army and completing his bachelor’s degree at the University of Nebraska, he and his father, George Diedrichsen, pioneered the feed lot industry in the Panhandle of Texas in 1960. Howard was one of the founders of the T-Bone Club which was the forerunner of the Texas Cattle Feeders Association. He was a life-long Lutheran, and was president of the St. John’s congregation when the church was built at its present location. He married Joan Erickson in 1955 and raised three children; John, Kimberly, and Amy.
He is preceded in death by his father, George Diedrichsen, his mother, Louise Abendroth Diedrichsen, his two sisters, Joyce Diedrichsen Kroger and Marion Diedrichsen Feller, and his daughter, Kimberly Diedrichsen Heard.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Erickson Diedrichsen of Dumas, son John Diedrichsen of Dumas, daughter Amy Diedrichsen Bates of Plano, and five grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be sent to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 207 South Meredith, Dumas, TX 79029.
