Henry Neuburn Ewing, 85, of Amarillo, TX passed away March 13, 2025.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 15, 2025 at St. Paul Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Henry, known as H.N. to his family and friends, was born on December 23, 1939, in Dimmitt, TX, to Arlon and Edna Behrends Ewing. He graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1958. H.N. joined the United States Army, where he served with the 101st Airborne Division from 1963 to 1965. After his honorable service to his country, H.N. earned an associate’s degree from Amarillo College. H.N. worked for Diamond Shamrock before joining the Potter County Auditor’s office, where he worked for 33 years. He retired as Potter County Auditor in 2005. On August 6, 1975, H.N. married Ruth Ann Purcell, and together they shared a life full of love, joy, and family. H.N. was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, cherishing the time spent with his children and grandchildren. He was also a proud member of St. Paul Methodist Church and served as a board member of the National Women’s Invitational Tournament (NWIT).
H.N. was preceded in death by his parents, Arlon and Edna Ewing; his sisters, Sue Ewing, Arlene Ewing, and Laurie Watts; his in-laws, Charlie and Alice Purcell; and his brothers-in-law, Ron Miller, Richard Purcell, and Lew Lindegren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Ewing, of Amarillo; daughters Jaime Samford and her husband Damon of Bushland, and Janna Miller and her husband Ben of McKinney; grandchildren Ryan Samford, Hanna Samford, Lucas Miller, and Katelyn Miller; his brother Edward Ewing and his wife Sharon of Dimmitt; sisters Irene Miller, June Ewing, and Peggy Ehly and her husband Bruce, all of Dimmitt; sister-in-laws Nancy Lindegren of Amarillo and Carol Sue Purcell of Plainview; and numerous nieces and nephews.
H.N. will be remembered for his kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of devotion, service, and generosity. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
