Hellen Gladyne Horton

Hellen Gladyne Horton passed into her heavenly home Dec. 3, 2023 at the age of 97. Hellen was born Aug 2, 1926 in Fogle,

Arkansas. She grew up in a family of 6 siblings; 2 boys and 4 girls. After graduating from Acorn High School she left home and started a career with Western Union. Hellen rose quickly in her work and soon became the troubleshooter for the other offices. It was during that time that she was moved to Tucumcari, New Mexico. There she met and fell in love with a true cowboy. He was the love of her life. His name was Thomas J. Horton. They were Married January 3, 1954. T.J. retired from the railroad and they moved to Amarillo, TX where they lived until his passing on December 1, 2001. Hellen and T.J. were married 47 years. Hellen, determined to be independent, lived the rest of her life in Arkansas and Oklahoma. She was a member of Asbury Methodist Church in Tulsa Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents Wesley and Minnie Hemphill, 4 siblings; Arlie, Hazel, Wesley Earl, and Alta. She is survived by one sister, Vivian Henshaw and husband Leon and many nieces and nephews. She will be sorely missed by many other relatives and friends.
