Helen
Mernice (Carreker) Williams, 91, of Amarillo, TX passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. at Westview Christian Church in Amarillo.
Helen was born on October 21, 1930, in Shamrock, Texas to Frank and Texola (Clay) Carreker. She grew up on a farm west of Dozier, TX, and graduated in 1948 from Samnorwood High School, where she was an avid basketball player. She married Albert Carrol Williams on her 20th birthday, October 21, 1950.
In the 1970’s, she played a major role in their restaurant Carrol’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Q. She obtained her pilot’s license and loved to fly their Piper Tripacer airplane.
After retirement, they enjoyed traveling and being work campers for KOA campgrounds. She loved Christmas time and making everyone in the family beautiful Christmas stockings. She enjoyed telling stories about her life and the many adventures with their friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Frank Carreker Jr., her sister Marie Johnson, and daughter Cynthia McClellan. Survivors include her husband Carrol, son Danny Williams and wife Kim, grandson Trebor Shaeffer and wife Rebecca, grandson Michael Williams and wife Lauren, grandson Ethan Williams and partner Farrah Walton, granddaughter Lindsey Davidson and husband Devin, grandson Garrett Williams and girlfriend Skyler Allen, five great-grandchildren, Austin Shaeffer, Cannon Williams, Lylah Williams, Izzy Williams, Wyatt Davidson, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials to be sent to BSA Hospice of the Southwest and Westview Christian Church in Amarillo.
