, 91, passed away on August 18, 2022. He was born in Amarillo TX, January 3, 1931.
He lived in Southern California for twenty-five years, working in the shoe industry. Harry described his time in California as a “twenty-five-year vacation.”
He returned to Amarillo in the mid-1990s and established Beck Cowboy Boots, continuing a family boot-making tradition that began when his father Earl Beck and uncle Bearl Beck established Beck Brothers Boots in Dalhart in the 1930s.
Harry was an avid bridge player and achieved his goal of Life Master.
Harry is survived by two daughters: Carolyn Furnish (husband Shearle) of Little Rock AR, and Carla Desmond (husband Dennis) of Portland OR, eight Desmond grandchildren, his sister Janelle Hutchison of Amarillo, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Kay Beck, his son Biff Beck, grandson Brian Beck, his parents Leta and Earl Beck, and two sisters, Earline Wynn and Joleta Keeter.
Harry also had many beloved friends in Amarillo. Most especially, are Jan Covalt and her family who surrounded him with love in his last year.
Harry had no wish for memorial services. Burial will be in the Silverton, TX cemetery alongside his wife, Kay Beck.
