Harold Donald Taylor, Jr., 96 of Amarillo, passed away on November 15, 2024.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial services will follow at 11:00 am in Covenant Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Harold was born to Harold and Nina Taylor in Hibbing, Minnesota on May 18, 1928. The family moved to Arizona and eventually to Amarillo, Texas. Harold graduated from Amarillo High School in 1946. He then attended Amarillo College and W.T.S.U.
Harold married Marilyn Scott in 1949. Just over a year later, they were blessed with the birth of Dennis Scott Taylor. Harold worked for Southwest Public Service for 40 plus years.
The family was active in their church, including leadership, teaching, and music. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with their grandchildren. Marilyn went to Heaven in 1994.
Harold married Irma McOwen in 1999. Harold and Irma enjoyed many years of traveling, volunteer work and family events.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Nina Taylor; sister, Marion Roberts; brother, Robert Taylor; son, Dennis Taylor; his first wife, Marilyn Taylor; and his second wife, Irma Taylor.
He is survived by his sister, Linda Willard; daughter-in-law, Judy Taylor; stepson, Mike Scroggins (Cindy); stepdaughter, Sue Erwin (David); eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and his family at Covenant Presbyterian Church.
